Advanced research and education networks exist to be enablers. The value of NORDUnet and the Nordic NRENs is the great education and the groundbreaking research they enable. Our users engage in exciting research projects, they produce new discoveries, they find new ways to teach. We’re excited to be part of this and to enable these results. As research networks we talk a lot about our technology, our capacity, and our services. This is what we do. However, we must never forget why we do it – to enable users.
To this end, NORDUnet and the Nordic NRENs have, in collaboration with likeminded networks from around the globe, created a blog to tell our user’s stories – to highlight the results, the advances, and the part technology played in making it possible. These are stories from the field; not stories about networking, but about the things that are possible when high-quality networking is available to anyone, anywhere, any time. For example, one blog entry tells the story of danish archaeologists teaming up
with experts in high performance computing to enable fast and intensive 3D recording for field archaeology.
Our networking infrastructure traverses the globe, enabling access to content and resources, connecting people, delivering new experiences, fostering collaboration and cultivating interdisciplinary communities striving to make a difference. This new blog embodies that very spirit, bringing the R&E network community together in a global collaboration with users and beneficiaries to showcase and share some of the most inspiring stories and achievements.
