This week, the Eastern and South African NREN collaboration Ubuntunet Alliance will meet at the Ubuntunet Connect 2023 conference, hosted by RENU in Kampala, Uganda. As usual, the conference will be lively, with many interesting presentations in the program.
NORDUnet’s Erik Kikkenborg will participate and jointly with Omo Oaiya of WACREN deliver a presentation that explores the efforts of WACREN and NORDUnet in establishing a video collaboration platform for NREN communities. The goal for the platform is to democratise the use of video in education by overcoming practical considerations and challenges such as cost, limited infrastructure, accessibility, video production, and teacher training.
It is the vision that such a platform can help address the unique challenges of video integration into African higher education institutions. The platform is delivered through a collaborative approach involving all stakeholders, with efforts focusing on infrastructure development, capacity building, content localisation, and partnerships.
The presentation, Democratising the use of video in African Higher Education Institutions: The Africa Digital Campus use case, will be given on 26 October at 14:30 local time.
