Arctic input at Danish NREN conference

Danish NREN DeiC invites stakeholders for its two-day Annual Conference 2022. The conference is held as a physical event 26-27 October with the overall theme “Alignment and Maturity: Implementing Research Infrastructure Solutions”. In line with tradition, this year’s DeiC Conference is structured around the four key pillars of the DeiC infrastructure

  • Data Management
  • HPC & eScience
  • Security
  • Network

Each of these pillars features a track complete with talks from the DeiC organisation, users and experts from the Danish community, and invited international speakers. Topics this year include quantum computing, supporting research in embracing FAIR data, and access mechanisms and exploitation of new high-performance computing resources.

During the first day of the conference, NORDUnet CEO Valter Nordh will give a talk on Polar Connect – a connection over the North Pole. Why is it important?.  In his presentation, Valter Nordh will offer some insights into the Polar Connect project, and why this initiative is important for Denmark and the Danish research community.  To this should be added more specifics on the  motivations and visions for the Nordic NREN collaboration to pave the way for one or more network connections from Northern Europe to Asia and North America via the Arctic Sea

In a related talk in the network track, Martin Bech of DeiC will elaborate on the ongoing work to establish an NREN in Greenland.

The DeiC conference will be held at conference center Comwell Kolding. The program is available in Danish.  Plenary talks and one of the tracks will be live streamed, supported by the NORDUnet media services team.
