Jan Meijer elected for the GÉANT Programme Planning Committee

Jan Meijer elected for the GÉANT Programme Planning Committee

At the March 2023 General Assembly of the GÉANT Association, the European research and education network collaboration, elected new members to the GÉANT Programme Planning Committee (GPPC). The committee guides the preparation of project proposals on behalf of the association and its members. The GPPC takes responsibility for the major evolution and service delivery projects under the GÉANT Framework Partnership Agreement (FFPA), as well as for project proposals to pursue development and collaboration opportunities in the Horizon Europe programme and other funding instruments.

Jan Meijer, Senior Advisor for International Strategy at Sikt (Norwegian NREN), was elected as a new member of the committee. Jan is a well-known member of the Nordic and European research community, leader of FileSender project and the OCRE IaaS pan-European tenders, and a co-chair of the EOSC Financial Sustainability Working Group. Lars Fischer, Chief Relations Officer at NORDUnet, a long-standing contributor to the GPPC left at this election due to term limits. NORDUnet is happy to see continued Nordic commitment to joint European NREN projects and wishes Jan a lot of success in his new role.

Matthew Dovey from Jisc (UK) was elected as the new chair, replacing outgoing chair Raimundas Tuminauskas (PSNC). NORDUnet also welcomes Harold Teunissen from SURF (Netherlands), Kostas Koumantaros from GRNET (Greece), Fabio Farina from GARR (Italy), and Bartosz Belter from PSNC as new members of the committee. Continuing as members of the committee are Ramas Kvatadze from GRENA (Georgia) and Leonie Schäfer from DFN (Germany).

NORDUnet would like to thank the outgoing GPPC members Raimundas Tuminauskas (PSNC), Ann Harding from SWITCH (Switzerland), Sabine Jaume from RENATER (France), Janos Mohacsi from KIFU (Hungary), Mauro Campanella from GARR (Italy), and Cezary Mazurek from PSNC (Poland) for their dedication, which led to a series of highly successful GÉANT projects.
