Here, NORDUnet, on behalf of the Nordic NRENs, and connected institutions seek competitive proposals for solutions that meet our shared needs.

Below, you will find a short description of each tender and a link to the e-tendering system, ETHICS where you can find all details available in the Invitation to Participate (ITP) and other relevant documents. We invite suppliers to review the opportunities and submit offers that align with the outlined requirements.

Submarine Cable Project consultancies DPS

This DPS concerns consultancies relating to Polar Connect step 1.
Polar Connect
 is a submarine fiber cable project with a shortest route between and East Asia starting from Norway going north of Greenland to North America and onwards to Asia. The project is for 3 years from January 2025 to December 2027 and is aimed to achieve several objectives in the areas described below. 

  • Engagement with stakeholders interested in securing global connectivity and providing access to an innovative research instrument made of sensors along the subsea cable. 
  • Detailed mapping of the Arctic Ocean, which starts with preparing pre-survey of the route, mission planning considering the critical weather conditions and costs, three survey missions, and the analysis of the survey data.
  • Technical planning and design activities, including route planning, planning of the resilience, determination of the optimal locations of potential cable landing sites and branching units, including security and access control, environmental impact, permitting and regulatory compliance, collaboration with local authorities, emergency response and repair, remote monitoring and control systems, and back-up communication systems.
  • Sensor technology planning, analysis of available technologies for cable sensing and their contributions for security-, integrity-, scientific- and environmental monitoring. 

It is foreseen that there will be consultancies needed for several of the above areas.

Description:

IP Equipment Supply and Support DPS

This Dynamic Purchasing System is designed to enable NORDUnet and the Nordic NRENs to purchase IP Equipment and Support. 

NORDUnet operates a Global IP/MPLS core network used for IP network services and settlement-free peering. The NORDUnet network has multiple nodes in each of the five Nordic countries, in the Netherlands; Amsterdam, Switzerland/France; CERN, Germany; Hamburg and Frankfurt and UK; London and Dublin, as well as at locations in North America; Chicago, New York and Washington, and locations in Asia; Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo. These locations are indicative and subject to change over the lifetime of the DPS.

The current NORDUnet IP/MPLS core network is based on Juniper routers. The deployed equipment is a mix of MX and PTX Series routers. The Nordic NRENs provide the Reseach and Education communities in their respective countries with IP network connectivity and other services. 

The DPS is divided into two (2) categories. Thereby the economic operators can register to one or both categories depending on their strengths and interests.

The two categories are as follows:

2. IP Equipment Support

This Dynamic Purchasing System is designed to enable NORDUnet and the Nordic NRENs to purchase IP Equipment and Support.

NORDUnet operates multiple e-Infrastructure services for the Nordic research and educational community based on the servers, this can be anything from I/O intensive Media Management or emeeting services to AI applications. Therefore, the individual purchase will have their individual characteristics to match the purpose. The equipment is currently installed in Datacenters in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway.

A Learning Management Solution is a complex solution that integrates with all functions and systems within an institution of higher education. The Learning Management Solution impacts the way all education and teaching material is developed and delivered, therefore the impact of shifting from one LMS solution to another is very high and carries a lot of additional actual cost and manpower to implement and may take as long as 24 months to complete.
