Welcome, Lise Fuhr

Lise Fuhr is the new CEO of GÉANT Association

At the recent General Assembly of the GÉANT Association, the pan-European research and education network, Erik Huizer officially handed over leadership to Lise Fuhr, the new Chief Executive Officer of GÉANT.

“As a long-standing and highly active member in the European NREN collaboration, NORDUnet welcomes Lise in her new position. Never has the importance of European leadership in the research and education network community been higher, and we look forward to cooperating in setting the course for the next phase of European digital infrastructure,” says Valter Nordh, CEO of NORDUnet.

Lise Fuhr brings extensive experience to GÉANT, having served as Director General of ETNO, the Brussels-based association representing Europe’s leading telecom operators. She also chairs the Danish cybersecurity organization “Security Tech Space” and is a member of the United Nations Internet Governance Forum Leadership Panel.

“The Times They Are a-Changin'”, and Lise joins at a time of truly new challenges and new opportunities. A changing geopolitical situation, increased focus on security and competitiveness, further integration of European and national efforts, and an ongoing digital transformation of the education sector, just to mention some. With the solid foundation built in recent years and with Lise’s experience and collaborative mindset, we are confident that together we can take the GÉANT collaboration of NRENs to the next level.”

Congratulations and welcome, Lise! We are excited to have you on board and look forward to working with GÉANT under your leadership.
