New wins for NORDUnet publication

New wins for NORDUnet publication

We are honored to have received two prestigious NYX Marcom Grand Awards, the competition’s highest honor, for NORDUnet’s 40th-Anniversary digital publication.

The publication has won a Grand Award in two categories: ”Best” and ”Research” in the 2021 NYX Awards. It was selected by the Grand Jury amongst 2163 entries from 33 countries.

An interactive multi-touch experience, “The Power of Nordic Unity – 40 years of NORDUnet” highlights the achievements of a world-class data network based on; dark fiber, spectrum sharing and other technologies that prepared the Nordic R&E networks to excel in the 2020 pandemic.

With many surprises throughout, including a crackling beach fire on page 37, the interactive iBook is a 200-page multimedia publication that uniquely celebrates the work put down by the Nordic NRENs. It is also the voice of our community sharing behind-the-scene stories of successful NORDUnet collaborations, conferences and workshops, innovations, and hopes for the future.

“…The R&E Networking organizations adapt and adopt. Much of the exciting and innovative works of the Nordic R&E Networking community over the past 40 years, we have tried to describe in this interactive eBook.” – Erik-Jan Bos Editor in Chief.

Years in the making, NORDUnet’s 40th-anniversary publication was a collective effort from a hundred+ contributors; we share this significant honor with them. These two awards come in addition to the recent MUSE Platinum Award that was bestowed on the publication earlier this year.

NORDUnet is a collaboration between the National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) of the five Nordic countries: Denmark (DeiC), Iceland (RHnet), Norway (Uninett), Sweden (SUNET), and Finland (Funet).
