Competitive Supercomputer to be placed in Finland

NORDUnet congratulates Finnish CSC on being selected to host a pan-European high-performance supercomputer at their datacenter in Kajaani. Not only will this position Finland, but the entire Europe as one of the world leaders in supercomputing, enabling European researchers to access world-class computing resources.

This decision will provide highly competitive HPC resources for Europe’s scientific, industrial and public users. In addition, it will provide a framework for Europe to strengthen its position as one of the pioneers of the data-driven economy.

CSC’s datacenter in Kajaani is an eco-efficient datacenter eco system offering low-price and environmentally friendly hydropower for cooling making waste heat usable in the local district heating network.
