e-AGE 2024: A Milestone for Regional Collaboration and Research Infrastructure

The e-AGE 2024 conference, the annual gathering of the Arab States Research and Education Network (ASREN), has kicked off in Tunis, Tunisia. The event brings together academic and policy leaders from North Africa, the Arab region, and the European Union to explore the critical role of advanced infrastructure for research and education.

The conference was officially opened by Prof. Saoussen Krichen, Director General of CCK, Tunisia, and Yousef Torman, Managing Director of ASREN. Their remarks highlighted the importance of regional collaboration and celebrated the achievements of member countries while acknowledging the challenges they face in advancing research and education networks, as well as the importance of their partnership with Europe.

Key Themes and Highlights

Running over two days, the e-AGE 2024 conference features an engaging program addressing vital topics, including The Evolution of NRENs, Women in STEM, Open Science Collaboration, and showcases of Scientific Research Supported by NRENs in the region.

This year’s event marks a significant milestone as the first conference under ASREN’s newly reformed organizational structure, emphasizing its commitment to fostering regional and international partnerships.

A Bright Future for ASREN and Regional NRENs

NORDUnet is proud to participate in e-AGE 2024 and continues to support ASREN as a partner in the EUMEDplus project. This partnership is pivotal in capacity building and shaping the future governance of ASREN as a robust membership organization.
