Jyväskylä University is the venue for the 2026 version of Funet’s Technical Days. Funet – Finnish University and Research Network – is operated by CSC – IT Center for Science, the national research and education network (NREN) of Finland.
Funet’s Technical Days are an annual stakeholder event where Funet infrastructure, services, plans, and challenges are discussed from a technical perspective. Among this year’s novelties is the Whisper Speech-to-Text technology that offers automated captioning as part of Funet’s media services.
The conference is held in Finnish except for a presentation by Erik Kikkenborg, Chief Collaboration Officer at NORDUnet. His topic is the current status and evolution plan of the eduMEET video conferencing service, developed through a collaboration of European NRENs, partly supported by the EU-funded GÉANT projects.
The 2026 version of Funet’s Technical Days is held at Jyväskylä University, Seminario Campus, May 20-21. The event is held in hybrid format, allowing both physical and digital presence.
