Bangladesh NREN visits NORDUnet

In continuation of the emerging NREN programme NORDUnet has hosted a visit from the management of the Bangladesh NREN together with members of the Bangladesh University Grant Committee, the Ministry of Education, and the Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP). The agenda covered all high-level aspects of establishing and running an NREN, including financing, staffing, and customer relations combined with technically oriented challenges.

Part of the programme offered a site visit to DeiC and DTU which provided the Bangladesh visitors with ample opportunity to discuss actual NREN/customer challenges with in particular DeiC CEO Steen Pedersen and CTO Martin Bech.  Additional to the lively discussions about services, finance models, equipment, fiber connections, and network, the visit took the guests of a tour round campus and the data centers.

The official visit concluded by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between NORDUnet and BdREN to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing. Member of the Bangladesh University Grant Committee Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain and  CEO René Buch penned the agreement on behalf of BdREN and NORDUnet, respectively.
