Polar Connectivity Webinar

On 5 October, NORDUnet is hosting a webinar on the economic value of submarine cables in the Arctic and associated topics relating to fiber connectivity between Asia and the EU.

Discover how direct sub-sea fiber connectivity from the EU to Japan and Asia through the Artic region will add redundancy, and mitigate existing risks with the current EU-Asia connectivity, which is either through the Suez/Egypt or in control by Russia or China.

Speakers and program

After a brief introduction by meeting chair Jørgen Qvist, NORDUnet, there will be three presentations on polar connectivity:

  • Nordic NREN’s Vision 2030Valter Nordh, NORDUnet
  • The economic value of submarine cables in the Arctic  – Sigurd Næss-Schmidt, Copenhagen Economics
  • A Japanese view on Japan(Asia)-EU connectivity, datacenters and regional development  – Jun Murei, WIDE project
Panel Discussion

After the presentations, the presenters will be joined by three industry experts for a panel discussion on the known and planned international connectivity projects from the Nordic / Arctic region and their impact:
