Guðmundur H Kjærnested appointed chair  of the NORDUnet Board of Directors

Following the 2026 NORDUnet shareholder’s ordinary General Assembly held in Reykjavik, Iceland, Guðmundur H Kjærnested of University of Iceland was appointed chair of the NORDUnet Board of Directors.

In addition, Per Öster of Finnish NREN CSC has been appointed member of  the NORDUnet Board of Directors, representing the Finnish shareholder. Per replaces Pekka Uusitalo who will serve as a substitute board member. Likewise, Per Nihlén of Swedish NREN Sunet replaced Viktoria Mattsson of Vetenskapsådet as substitute for the Swedish shareholder.

NORDUnet would like to thank Gitte Julin Kudsk, CEO at Danish NREN DeiC, who has served as chair of the Board of Directors for the past two years, for her dedication to Nordic collaboration and her guidance in an era of rapid regulatory and geopolitical changes impacting infrastructure for research and education throughout the Nordic countries. Gitte will continue as a member of the NORDUnet Board of Directors. NORDUnet would likewise like to thank Pekka Uusitalo for his eight years of service and guidance.
